Riding guidelines and precautions

NEWS

🚴‍♂️ The Event Is Coming Up Soon!
To ensure a safe and enjoyable ride, please review these key safety reminders based on Japan’s traffic rules.
(We know most cyclists already know this — but a quick refresher never hurts!)

Course Guidance

Course marshals wearing event bibs will guide you at intersections and tricky corners.
Direction signs are also posted on utility poles — follow the signs and staff instructions.

Bicycles Are Vehicles

When turning right at traffic lights (including T-junctions), make a two-step right turn.

Pedestrians Have Priority

Always yield to pedestrians, even outside crosswalks.
Ride at a speed that allows you to stop safely at any time.

No Riding Against Traffic

Keep to the left side of the road — “Bicycles keep left!”
Riding against traffic is illegal.

Use Front and Rear Lights

Equip both a front light and rear light.
There will be no bike inspection, so please check your brakes and safety parts in advance.

No Phone Use While Riding

Using your smartphone while cycling is against Japanese traffic law.
Stop completely before using your device.
